Rung by the local band prior to the morning service.

The ringing this morning is dedicated to the memory of Ron Applewhite, former member of the local band here, today being the second anniversary of his passing aged 100.

Ron was ringing regularly on Sunday's here well into his 90's but his final ring was here one Sunday aged 96 when he rang the third bell one last time for service. He reluctantly, with a heavy heart, decided to stop ringing then due to arthritis in his hands as he did not want to miss his sally and make a mess of the ringing. However we would still pick him up and bring him to Church so he could listen to the ringing each Sunday morning.

Ron was a member of the Branston Multi Minor Peal band which was highly regarded in the county as the best Minor band during the 1950’s & 60’s. They were known for their striking in particular as well as the complexity of the Minor methods and numbers they rang.

Ron rang his first peal here at Branston and also his last.
