Rung at the request of the Master of the City of Lincoln Company of Civic Bell Ringers who was unable to ring due to ill health, to celebrate Armed Forces Day within the City.
Lincoln has close connections to the RAF with RAF Waddington being based on the southern edge of the City and with RAF Scampton - home to the famous Dambusters, being based just to the north of the City! Each year the City hosts a Freedom Parade through the City center for both RAF bases. We (the City) are very proud of our close and strong connections with the RAF. Of course Lincolnshire as a whole is regarded as the 'Home of the RAF'!
Rung to thank all past, present and future members of all our armed forces, especially the sacrifices they have all made for us!
It was decided not to ring a full quarter peal but instead to have a longish touch.
